Our client, a leading healthcare organization dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and innovative nursing practices, is hiring a Chief Nursing Officer.

As a vital member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will assume broad responsibilities for overseeing all nursing operations across the facility. This role demands strategic vision, operational excellence, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The CNO will lead efforts to enhance nursing standards, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and drive quality improvement initiatives, all while supporting staff development and maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily nursing operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor nursing education programs, operational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead facility-wide performance improvement programs and evaluate clinical outcomes to foster continuous progress.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, medical staff, and administrative teams to integrate clinical strategies and ensure operational excellence.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and retention of nursing staff, overseeing credentialing, competencies, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster effective union relations, promote open communication, and support collaborative labor-management forums.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies, including CMS, DOH, and the Joint Commission, and respond proactively to bioethical, legal, and policy matters.
  • Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and expense controls to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Champion a culture of respect, change management, and shared leadership to elevate nursing practice across the organization.

Requirements

  • Valid New York State license and current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of nursing experience, with at least six (6) years in administrative or management roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in clinical performance improvement, staff development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of Magnet standards, change management, and collaborative partnership with unionized staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with an ability to lead in a complex, dynamic healthcare environment.
