Summary  
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Cloud Support Summer/Fall Intern (High School)  to join our dynamic cloud services team. This internship is designed especially for high school students who are curious about careers in technology and eager to learn. It offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience with leading cloud computing platforms and tools, all within a telework and on-site (as needed) work environment . Please note: This position is a Summer/Fall Internship that will begin during the summer months and continue through December 2025.
As an intern, you will work alongside experienced cloud engineers and IT professionals who will mentor and guide you through real-world projects such as implementation, maintenance, and optimization of cloud-based solutions while gaining exposure to cloud infrastructure design, deployment, and management. Through this experience, you will develop valuable technical and professional skills that can help shape your future in the tech industry, with the added potential for future full-time employment opportunities.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of cloud resources (e.g., virtual machines, storage, networks) on major cloud platforms
  • Monitor cloud systems for performance, security, and cost efficiency
  • Participate in basic scripting and automation tasks to streamline cloud operations
  • Participate in troubleshooting, resolving cloud-related technical issues, and participating in root cause analysis
  • Learn and apply cloud security best practices, assisting in implementing security measures and ensuring compliance
  • Contribute to documentation of cloud environments, processes, and best practices
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Assist with data backup and recovery activities, and contribute to defining patch management and lifecycle processes for cloud systems
  • Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams on cloud-native application development
  • Research new cloud services, trends, and tools to support team decision-making.

Basic Qualifications
  • Interested in pursuing a career in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts and principles (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) through coursework or personal projects
  • Basic experience in programming or scripting (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash)
  • A general understanding of Linux/Windows operating systems fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS,

  • Clear communication, both in writing and when speaking
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Interest in cloud security and compliance
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals)
Information Security and Confidentiality Obligations
  • Ensure adherence to organizational information security policies and procedures; actively participate in mandatory security awareness training; and manage confidential and sensitive information in accordance with company protocols and data protection standards
Work environment
  • This work is normally completed in a telework environment with occasional trips to the headquarters office in Greenbelt, MD
Physical demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization and client facilities

The base hourly range for this position is: $18.00-$20.00.
