Position Information: TxDOT's Dallas District is seeking a Construction Inspector to join us in the inspection and oversight of essential projects in the North - Central region. Depending on skill level, this employee will perform all facets of bridge inspection, roadway inspection, environmental compliance, and materials inspection. Employee will serve as Inspector on a range of small?scale to large?scale projects. Duties include fieldwork. Employee may be required to work late or night shifts per the Area office needs. This position will be in our Ellis/Navarro Area Office and will help support the inspection of our existing infrastructure and new upcoming construction projects. Salary Range for each position level
Position Title: Salary Grade/Range
This position is for a Construction Inspector I or II. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.
Minimum Salary : 45,521.00
Maximum Salary : 76,028.00
Pay Basis : Yearly
FLSA Status : Nonexempt

Travel : Yes, 10 % of the Time

Inspects construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, traffic signals, airports and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications; acts as consultant regarding work progress and problem resolution; may serve as the only inspector on a construction project or assist in overseeing construction inspection activities for very large and/or complex projects within a district or conduct statewide construction inspection activities for ongoing airport improvement projects. Responsible to a licensed professional engineer who has full authority for approval of all work. Work requires contact with contractors. May perform materials tests and manufacturing process inspections at fabrication sites. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Education : High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.

Licenses and Certifications : Valid drivers license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
