Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI is seeking a motivated student to join our team as a Construction Management Intern for Summer 2026. This internship is a full-time, hands-on opportunity designed to provide real-world exposure to construction projects and daily construction management operations. Interns will work a 40-hour week for a minimum of 10 weeks between mid-May and the end of August. Throughout the program, interns will support and learn from experienced Construction Managers while working under the supervision of a technical manager. Each intern will be paired with a dedicated supervisor and mentor, participate in planned program activities, and complete mid-summer and end-of-summer reports and presentations. This internship offers valuable experience across active construction projects and helps develop the technical, organizational, and professional skills essential for a career in construction management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and design engineers.
  • Complete all assigned tasks on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope.
  • Maintain document control for all correspondence, RFIs, submittals, and other project-related documents.
  • Learn to read and understand plans and specifications, including the construction contractor's means and methods.
  • Learn to test, document, and ensure the quality of the contractor's work, adhering to project and industry standards.
  • Complete other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:

  • This is an entry level position where no previous experience is required.
  • Currently enrolled in a college construction management or related program.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • 3.0 GPA or higher preferred

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to pass and maintain required certifications
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
