Job Description

Felix Construction Company is seeking an experienced Crane Operator. The ideal candidate will occasionally work alongside crew members when needed to help the team.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Operate, inspect and maintain cranes at all boom lengths, angles and positions safely. This includes making difficult clearance judgements while watching the moving load and boom while compensating for variations in the crane's lifting capacity during position changes.
  • Install trench jacks and shoring boxes.
  • Fly concrete and concrete forms.
  • Perform daily maintenance and inspections per operator's manual.
  • Keep proper tools on hand for the crane or other equipment.
  • Communicate with team members and be aware of personnel or vehicles working in an unsafe manner under the working crane at all times.
  • Inspect cables and hoist blocks for damage and report if needed.
  • Work as part of a team to get the job done safely and in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot work related problems using experience, job knowledge, and by communicating with others to solve the problem.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training including safety when required or requested.
  • Report safety and vehicle incidents promptly and completes thorough documentation.
  • Ability to operate other kinds of construction equipment is a plus.
Who You Are
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • NCCCO or equivalent crane operator certification from a reputable training facility, valid and in good standing.
  • 4-6 years of crane operation experience.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred, English required.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Must be able to read, understand and interpret construction drawings.
  • Communicates effectively and is proactive in addressing safety concerns.
  • Proficient in smartphone use, tablets or laptops to locate job sites and to complete required paperwork.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This position requires working on construction job sites in extreme temperatures. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and may occasionally use hand tools associated with the construction industry. Specific vision abilities required include the ability to adjust and focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods, climb on and off equipment, walk, kneel, bend, reach with hands and arms, hear, and talk.
