Job Description
Job Purpose: The Genetic Counseling Administrative Assistant will work with both patients and staff across our U.S. sites. This is a responsible position that must work with minimal instruction or direction and demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Intended Start Date: Beginning of August
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
Supervisor/Reporting to : Lead Genetic Counselor
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
· Triage, schedule and follow-up on genetic counseling referrals.
· Obtain clinical records for genetic counseling appointments.
· Coordinate and send patient consents.
· Assist in tracking patient volume of the genetic counseling program.
· Triage genetic testing results to appropriate genetic counselor.
· Provide administrative support to the Genetics and Ethics Committee.
· Assist in genetic testing order entry where needed.
· Coordinate patient sign in/out for genetic counseling team.
· Where required, draft letters of medical necessity for review by genetic counseling team.
Academic Training:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in a biological/health science or equivalent education. – preferred
· Highschool Diploma - Required
Position Requirements/Experiences:
· Knowledge of genetics and genetic concepts.
· Preferred: previous experience within an ART/infertility or medical genetics setting .
T echnical Skills:
· Computer proficiency - required
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook.
