Job Description

PRS is hiring immediately for a Railroad Load Planner to join our team working at the Norfolk Southern Pittsburgh, PA, rail terminal in a recession-proof industry! We're hiring immediately for this entry-level position. No experience is required as we'll teach you everything you need to know in order to be successful on the job.

Starting Rate: $20.00

Schedule:

  • Tuesday through Saturday.
  • 11pm-7am.
  • Nights and Weekends Required.

Applicant must currently live within a 30-minute commute of business location. Out-of-area candidates and/or those requiring relocation will not be considered.

Summary/Objective:

The Load Planner coordinates the terminal’s train planning to ensure retention of service levels and thereby satisfy the customer’s requirements. This is accomplished thru the coordination of the operating department and the Class 1 Railroad.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the intermodal train planning activities of the terminal.
  • Ensure accuracy when making decisions for a major change in train planning. Non-routing matters are referred with recommended solutions to the terminal manager.
  • Daily contact is normally maintained with the terminal manager for informational purposes and for recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls, other Managers within the terminal for the coordination of train planning.
  • Maintain good relations with all major contacts including the Union Pacific Railroad Manager of Intermodal Train planning in order to keep apprised of intermodal conditions and secure information concerning inbound train arrivals.
  • Maintain awareness and organization within the rail yard, to include an attention to the ground surface (potholes, debris, and/or slippery conditions).
  • All other duties as assigned.
