About the Opportunity If you are passionate about solving intricate technical challenges and creating impactful solutions, we want you as a Senior Software Engineer at Orium. You will collaborate with enterprise clients to craft digital experiences that engage thousands of users daily. Utilizing composable commerce architecture, cutting-edge frameworks, and advanced AI-powered development tools, you will help shape the future of eCommerce. Reporting to the Manager of Software Development, your role will be pivotal in enhancing our development practices, mentoring team members, and driving forward Orium’s software development journey. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building, collaborating, and harnessing technical skills with AI advancements to produce remarkable work. Contract Details: This is a 6-month fixed-term contract with potential extension to a full-time position based on your performance, business requirements, and mutual agreement. Responsibilities

• Guide and mentor developers in crafting and executing project tasks, ensuring the delivery of top-quality results.
• Collaborate with design and product management teams to estimate, prioritize, and coordinate tasks within an Agile framework.
• Maintain transparency with stakeholders by providing regular updates on progress, risks, and technical decisions.
• Create and maintain clear documentation and diagrams to effectively communicate complex solutions to clients and team members.
• Advise clients directly to grasp requirements, deliver updates, and address inquiries with professionalism and clarity.
• Produce clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to industry best practices.
• Engage in code reviews to uphold the quality, scalability, and consistency of our codebases.
• Utilize modern AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude Code, Devin, GitHub Copilot, Codex) to enhance productivity, quality, and creative problem-solving.
• Discern the appropriate use of AI in development, ensuring a balance between efficiency and sound engineering principles.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for incorporating automation and AI in workflows.
• Play a role in advancing Orium's internal adoption of AI in development and sharing insights with the team.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a full-stack JavaScript engineer, skilled in both front-end and back-end development.
• Experience with eCommerce, retail POS, or OMS systems.
• Strong grasp of contemporary web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, GraphQL, Next.js, Node.js, Chakra UI, React Query, TypeScript.
• Knowledge of responsive design and the differences between mobile and desktop interactions.
• Exceptional interpersonal and client-facing communication abilities.
• Experience with modern digital and AI-enhanced development tools, and a willingness to leverage coding aids to improve efficiency.
• Deep critical thinking about the role of AI in software development, recognizing both its possibilities and limitations.
• A continuous learner with a mindset of experimentation and curiosity.
• Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Compensation and Hiring Transparency

• Expected Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 CAD annualized base salary. This range reflects anticipated compensation for this role in the specified area and final offers depend on various factors.
• AI Use in Hiring: We utilize AI tools for tasks like candidate communication and scheduling while ensuring human oversight in all hiring decisions.
