The Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, attendance outreach, workshops to young adults, and assists in implementing other aspects of the program. He/she collaborates extensively with the Department of Education (DOE) teachers and administrators. Reports To: Program Director, Stevenson High School YABC Location: 1980 Lafayette Ave, Bronx, NY 10473 Hours: 35 Hours/Week; September to June (Monday-Thursday 12:30 pm-8:30 pm & Friday 8 am-4 pm); July to August (Monday – Friday, 8 am to 4 pm); *Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.* Salary: Masters-level Mental Health Counselor / Social Worker – $58,000 to $65,000/year Additional Compensation: $1,000 sign-on bonus paid in the first payroll and $2,000 retention bonus after the first year of employment. Major Duties: Provide counseling, assessment, case management, academic planning, and attendance outreach for up to 40+ students. Support post-secondary planning for YABC students. Develop group workshops to support skill development and youth competencies. Perform family interventions to promote engagement and participation in the school community. Create and maintain a resource directory for student referrals. Refer youth and families to appropriate resources within the program network and community organizations. Collaborate with GSS team and school to develop in-school activities and events. Participate in staff/team meetings. Provide crisis intervention as needed. Coordinate with team members and maintain collaborative relationships with DOE staff. Generate data for reporting and ensure paperwork/database accuracy. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: MSW or Mental Health Counseling degree required. Availability to work Monday-Thursday 12:30 PM-8:30 PM and Fridays 8 AM-4 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends. Experience working with youth and families essential. Prior experience in a school setting encouraged. Ability to implement best practices for desirable outcomes. Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills. Commitment to a strength-based and youth development approach.
