Uchi Philadelphia (coming soon!) is accepting resumes for Sushi Chefs!

Located in Rittenhouse Square, orientation is slated to begin at the end of October 2025 with a planned opening date in November 2025!

In this role, you will serve as a vital member of our team, enriching the culinary and service experience for our guests. We offer competitive compensation and excellent opportunities for long-term growth within the organization. Sushi Chefs make an average of $25-$30 per hour (base + tips) plus benefits!

Uchi, 'house' in Japanese, was founded by James Beard Awardwinning Chef Tyson Cole. A delicate balance of elevated food and impeccable service, Uchi offers non-traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi, and a seasonal omakase creating an experience that is both unexpected and unforgettable.

Hai Hospitality is an exciting, multi-concept, emerging restaurant group based in Austin, Texas. Our award-winning restaurant concepts include Uchi, Uchiko, Uchiba, and Loro in Austin, Texas; Uchi, Uchiko, and Loro Houston; Uchi, Uchiba, Uchiko, and Loro Dallas; and Uchi in Denver, Miami, LA, and Scottsdale.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine.
  • Learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams.
  • Understand proper handling and waste reduction of product.
  • Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest.
  • Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows.
  • Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu!

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
  • Detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
  • Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
  • Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives
  • Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces
  • Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs
  • Ability to work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area
  • Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors
  • Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including proper uniform and personal grooming
