Working with geriatric populations can make for an immensely rewarding career for a psychologist. A typical psychologist employed by PsychAssociates works 2-4 days per week and has been with our group for over 10 years.
We currently have immediate openings for NYS Licensed Psychologists to join our practice and be embedded as staff psychologists at skilled nursing facilities in the following locations: Upper West Side (multiple openings), Riverdale (multiple openings), New Hyde Park/Glen Oaks (multiple openings), Upper East Side (multiple openings), Morningside Heights, Mamaroneck, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, the Rockaways, the Manhattan Beach area of Brooklyn (multiple openings), Staten Island, the Bronx (multiple openings), Flushing (Korean-speaking), and Staten Island.
*Requirements:*
* Must have doctorate in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, neuropsychology, or health psychology
* Must have NYS license in psychology (or within 3 months of full licensure)
* Experience and training in geriatric psychology, neuropsychology, and/or health psychology is a plus but not a requirement
*Responsibilities:*
* Evaluate, diagnose and provide treatment to patients with varied mental health needs in a culturally sensitive, professional and ethical manner. Challenging issues that our psychologists encounter with long-term care patients include adjustment to change, compliance with care and medication, anxiety, depression, compulsive behavior, isolation and withdrawal, and low self-evaluation
* Collaborate with treatment teams and other related service providers to assure continuity of care
* Present in-service trainings to other clinical disciplines within the facility to optimize patient outcomes
